Born April 15, 1963 in Natchez , Mississippi, Joel was raised in the small country town of St. Joseph , Louisiana. Growing up in the heart of Southern culture, his roots ran deep into the solid ground of American values. A true rugged outdoorsman, Joel Lance never knew he was forging the character you now hear in his music.
December 31, 1984 became the most pivotal point in Joel's life. It was then, while attending his first revival service at Good Road Pentecostal Church in Jonesville, Louisiana that three life changing events were set in motion. Surrendering to God's calling on his life, Joel received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost on January 2, 1985. While this alone was cause for celebration, God wasn't finished with Mr. Lance by a long shot.
Good Road Pentecostal Church Pastor Brian Taylor and his wife, Sister Myrna Loy Taylor, have always been instrumental in shaping lives and people. It is a legacy they passed down to their daughter Rebecca who captured Joel's willing heart. Joel and Becky were married July 13, 1987. The last piece of the puzzle was about to fall into place.
By Divine Design, Joel had married into a highly musical family. Their encouragement and support helped mold his talent and love of singing into the mighty presence it is today. The extended church family of Good Road Pentecostal Church has also been very supportive of his music ministry.
When asked about his musical roots, Joel replies, "My roots are in the sound of Country Gospel Music. I knew this was the style that God wanted me to sing." He continues, "My true desire is to sing songs that will touch the hearts of the audience and draw people to Him." Joel Lance is realizing his destiny.
